Porsche is working on the adaptation of technologies to be used in the Mission E electric vehicle for the most affordable model - the Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman. However, the final decision on the production of this version has not been adopted yet by the company's management.
The Porsche has seriously taken on the "electric mobilization" of their model lineup. A special department, which will consist of 1,400 employees, has been established in the company. Porsche creates specific assembly and painting shops for the production of electric vehicles and rechargeable hybrids.
An electric sedan, created on the basis of the Mission E concept, will be the first electrical vehicle of Porsche. According to the company executive Oliver Blum, the company plans to annually sell up to 20 thousand electric cars of this model. It is a fairly conservative estimate because the same Tesla sold more than 50 thousand sedans of Model S this year, and they are also rather expensive cars.
It should be reminded that the Porsche Mission E concept was equipped with an electric power plant with a capacity of 590 hp. The car accelerates from 0 to 62 in 3.5 seconds, and "North loop" track of the Nürburgring takes less than eight minutes. The range is 310 miles. Porsche says that specifications of the production version will be as nearly as possible to these indicators.
